Studies on Bolting of Stored Seeds of Radish (Raphanus sativua L.)

Abstract
|
|
|
This experiment was carried out in order to know the varietal differences of storage effect on bolting of seeds stored in different conditions. Seeds of three varieties stored in 5 different relative humidifies at 4 and 10℃ and at room conditions for one year were sown with newly harvested one on July 3. The results obtained are summarized as follows:
1) The moisture content of the seeds stored for one year was increased in direct proportion to the storage humidity regardless of the storage temperature in the all varieties.
2) The halting rate of the seeds stored was generally not different between 4℃ and 10℃ but increased in proportion to the storage humidity regardless of the cultivars.
3) The bolting rate of the seeds stored at the limiting lowest humidity condition was higher in trend than that of the newly harvested seeds except the variety Yeonggwang.
4) The varietal differences in the bolting rate of seeds stored were large in the early growing stage but not in the late stage.
